Hi, everyone! I’m Rossiel, a Philippine correspondent of ASIACLICK.

In the Philippines, the average age is very young, 23 years old. According to the World Bank’s 2016 survey, the average birthrate is 2.98 (1.42 in Japan). The Catholic teaching of that children are gifts from God affects this result.

“Food is life”, this is the motto of almost everyone in this generation. Everybody is in search for good food, and it is not actually quite surprising if the food industry is on its best run as ever. That said, we could not go around this topic without mentioning the famous and ever-growing Japanese cuisine.

Tips and Tricks for a Successful Trip to Japan

Hi, I am Marinette from the Philippines and I am here to talk about the preparations I did for my trip to Japan in November.

I am very fond of traveling and backpacking. I hate going in tour groups, because for me, these tours are very limited, and travelers don’t get to have a sense of the culture of the place. I like going on my own, hence, it is a must for me to research everything there is to know about my travel destination. Where else to quickly find this information than on the Internet, right? I used different search criteria to find exactly what I wanted to know before visiting Japan. I’d like to share with you my Google search hacks below:

Popular Smartphones in Philippines

In the Philippines, Apple and Samsung are big competitors when it comes to mobile devices. They have a rather big market share. However, when you look at the competition closely, it’s not just these two big brands vying for market share. There are small brands that collectively sum up as a big competitor in the mobile phone industry. These brands include Cherry Mobile, MyPhone, Torque and Starmobile. Their entry to the market is convenient. This is because they made smartphones at the time when everyone was shifting to using smartphones. However, not everyone can afford an Apple or a Samsung. These local brands then introduced their very own smartphones, which also run using the Android system, at very affordable prices. They also made sure that their phones are up to par with the big brands’ phones by using touch-screen features with big screens. Everyone on a tight budget who wanted to switch to a smartphone became part of their market. And since the switch to smartphones is caused by modern day citizens’ need to always be on-line, Facebook Lite has been a hit as well, especially in the Philippines where not all locations are supported by 3G or LTE. Facebook Lite is for 2G networks and areas that have slow or unstable connections. In times like this where everyone just wants to be updated on almost anything and everything, it would be great if there are businesses like these who can also cater to tho

ALDUB: Philippine Showbiz Phenomenon

In the Philippines, almost every single day since Maine Mendoza (or Yaya Dub) and Alden Richards was shown on national television, ALDUB has dominated the trending list of Twitter Philippines, and even topped the Worldwide trend, with a record-breaking 24.6 million tweets on one thrilling episode. Maine started her fame on social networking site, Facebook, for her on-point Dubsmash videos of different local and international personalities. Alden, who was then a not-so-famous actor, was struggling with his so-so career. They were both recruited to be part of a supposedly short segment of a noontime show, but then fame caught on for these two. Yaya Dub’s role is a maid, and Alden, a well-off guy, is her prince charming. The tandem’s undeniable chemistry reached chart-topping records on TV, and even dominated the all-day rating, outcompeting shows on the primetime block.

Airing 6 times in a week, the ALDUB nation has never failed to top and dominate the trending list on Twitter throughout the entire day. This is why it is said that ALDUB is a phenomenon up until now. The simplicity of the story and the values they teach the viewers are the main reasons why this show caught up to the hearts of the masses. Everyone, may it be children or adult, could relate to their story.

With these wide exposures of ALDUB, capitalists are in hot competition on signing the love team to endorse for them. As a result, Maine and Alden ended up with much expected endorsement projects in print, social and advertisement media. Examples of the brands they endorse are Talk ‘N Text (local telco mass brand) and McDonald’s. True enough, records show that with all their ALDUB endorsements, the sales revenue boosted.
