【Taiwan】The Promotion Effect of ”EasyCard” is very large?!

“EasyCard” is a ‘touch-and-go’ IC ticketing system for the Taipei Metro, bus services, designated car parks, stores and government agencies. We can buy it at station and airport, convenience stores and so on. Just pass the card over the sensor area to make a transaction, avoiding hassles with finding correct change. As value can be added to the card at any time, there is no need to repeatedly purchasing new cards. An EasyCard can be used for years and its ultimate aim is to allow people to travel throughout Taiwan with only one card. In Taiwan, some buses don’t have moneychangers, so most of Taiwanese people have cards like it.

When you take a MRT with using this card, you can get a 20% discount! In addition, you can use it at places I mentioned and drag stores, cafe, supermarkets and shopping malls.

“EasyCard” which we can buy at convenience stores and on the Internet and is made into a new design one every month.

This card depicts Pokemon on its front side. There are ones like this, for example, Kumamon, Care Bear and so on.

All of 3 upper pictures is also “EasyCard.” The left one is type of strap, the center one is type of bangle and the right one is type of watch. The price of character card is about USD 5~10 and strap is about USD 5, bangle is about USD 20 and watch is about USD 30. They are mainly sold at convenience stores and made into new design ones, so this is effective tool for promotion to get many customers of all ages!

The upper picture says that people having “EasyCard” can get a 5%discounts by just showing or using the card at MARUI. MARUI is one of the famous Japanese department stores. It’s affiliated with “EasyCard” since 2012. People using it during campaign are more than 100,000!

In addition, “EasyCard” announced it would be affiliated with stores at Okinawa in Japan on January 2017. 700,000 visitors from Taiwan come there in a year, so “EasyCard” focuses on Okinawa.

 

Thus, the method of promotion closer to daily lives of people living in your target country. Holding big event is not only effective way to become famous and popular. It is important to understand life styles of nations which you can’t know by usual market research.
