When I saw in Social Media apps like Facebook, Twitter, Path, and Instagram, there a lot of friends and peers posting on how they are having a great life by travelling nationally and internationally. They posted on cool places, and great outdoor environment while travelling and show a great envy from others. The frequent posting is also great, some of them post on weekly basis every weekend that shows the regularly travel each weekend and become hobby.
That insight shows that Indonesian people are in trend now of travelling and crazy about it. It is started from foodie trend a couple years ago that generate continuously and become travelling right now. Because food and travel are unseparated factors.
Talking about travel trend nowadays in Indonesia. The speed of progress is leaning fast. The trend is fast come and disappear in weeks. This is due to Indonesian usage of social media that allow of communicate and penetrate any information fast.
Therefore, now the trends are leaning toward routine travelers and foodie. These frequent routine travelers are usually go on short distance traveling on weekend like Bali, and several cool destinations in Java island and go further during long weekend or holidays. For long weekends, they go to place outside Java island and close-by country such as Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, or Malaysia. And most trend right now are go to the beach or beach travelling, I’ve seen a lot of this picture every weekend.
Food travelling also trending right now but this is more on daily basis since people could go to cool places to eat within the city and grab pictures and posted. So Foodie is more frequent in content here in Indonesia, especially big cities such as Jakarta.
One of the big influences on Travel trends in Indonesia are travel bloggers and celebrity or celebgram. There are a lot of celebgram here in Indonesia that followed by thousands of fans and engage a lot. So there is good to approach them for travel advertising.
